Angela Cothran

Biography

Angela Cothran is an associate attorney at MacArthur, Heder, & Metler, working on the family law team with Kristy Hanson and Lesley Johnson.

In 2021, Angela graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies: Hebrew Bible, which encompassed the study of the languages, history, culture, and texts of the ancient Middle East. She graduated from Brigham Young University’s J. Ruben Clark Law School in 2024.

While in law school Angela served as an associate and senior editor on BYU’s Law Review for two years and volunteered for multiple semesters in the family law, domestic violence, and immigration clinics. Angela focused years of her time in law school on conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation. She participated in BYU Law’s Peace Building Academy and worked at BYU’s Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution, where she mediated disputes in justice courts all over the Wasatch Valley and within the BYU community. She is passionate about helping people resolve conflict in positive ways.

Angela has four beautiful children and two grandchildren (with hopefully more someday). She loves books, reading, writing, history, art, theater, television, and movies—essentially any media that tells a story. She would rather do almost anything other than cook, do yard work, or spend time in the sun.
